Mills College is recruiting for a Payroll Specialist.
Representative Duties
The role of the Payroll Specialist will be to help support both the Employee Services Department in addition to individual employees. The primary focus of this position is Payroll Administration, including but not limited to processing of semi-monthly payrolls for staff/faculty and students. Data-entry, auditing payroll data to ensure accuracy, processing employee records, tax garnishments and withholdings, recordkeeping, customer service, assists employees with payroll questions, answering front-line inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
The Payroll Specialist primary responsibilities include:
- Process four payrolls/month
- Track time reporting, vacation, sick leave and payroll integration for SDI/PFL
- Pay and Reconcile Retirement and Health Insurance Accounts as needed
- Prepare tax liability reports
- Reconcile payroll tax accounts with general ledger
- First point of contact for employees regarding payroll related inquiries
- Process medical leave and workers compensation pay integrations
- Maintain security of confidential personal employee information
Knowledge and Skills:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience processing complete payroll on an enterprise platform such as PeopleSoft, Banner, or Datatel
- Knowledge of tax depositing procedures
- Knowledge of general accounting methods and procedures
