Australian men have something to fear for themselves a latest study has revealed that they are more prone to prostate cancer than those born in other countries. The main cause of this difference is being stated as the diet that they intake.

According to the report published by the Medical Journal of Australia Men, over the age of 70 who are born in Australia have a higher prostate-specific antigen levels than those born overseas. These elevated levels are the clear indicators of the prostate abnormalities, including cancer.

More than 1430 men living in the ethnically diverse area around Sydney's Concord Hospital, were examined by the researchers after which they came to the conclusion that almost half the people who were born in Australia has high levels of PSA as compared to rest of the group which was born in other countries like Italy, Greece, Britain, or Ireland.

Prof. Robert Cumming highlighted the fact that the Mediterranean diet might be the root cause of the problem and genetics played very less role in the irregularities. The diet that people living in Italy or Greece is different from what the people of Australia are used to, and this diet could hold the answer to all these claims. Tomatoes which are used heavily in the Mediterranean diet have been linked to prostate cancer risk in earlier studies also. If someone had to pinpoint one thing, then the only thing that has a lot going for it would be tomatoes. Having a higher intake of tomatoes is very healthy as it diminishes the linkage to prostate cancer. Although there is still not enough proof to say the obvious, but still it is currently the most likely things.
