Ford introduces plush 2013 F-Series Super Duty Platinum [Video]

The mystery pickup trim level Ford teased earlier this month is an enigma no more ? the Blue Oval?s luxurious Platinum trim will make its way from the F-150 to the F-Series Super Duty trucks for the 2013 model year, bringing with it a number of aesthetic and equipment upgrades inside and out.

There will be no mistaking a Platinum Super Duty for a lesser F-Series thanks to copious amounts of chrome adorning the door handles, mirror caps, running boards, exhaust tip and tow hook. Even more prominent are the changes to the Super Duty?s semi-like grille, which include perforated mesh accents and a satin chrome surround. Unique 20-inch wheels complete the bold exterior treatment.

The cabin benefits from generous amounts of wood grain trim, premium leather seating and a long list of standard kit highlighted by a navigation system, rearview camera and heated steering wheel.

The Platinum will also get a standard My Ford Touch system, which works through a new eight-inch infotainment screen. Ford says that it modified the MyFord Touch setup, which will also become optional on other Super Duty trucks for the 2013 model year, to better accommodate the needs of pickup users. Changes include more redundant buttons for audio and climate controls that can be used with work gloves on (check out the video below for a demonstration of the system).

The Platinum trim level will be offered on crew cab-equipped F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks. No word on pricing, but the Platinum will be positioned above the King Ranch trim level, which starts at $48,180.
